Thinking Strategies for Caregivers Print
Research shows that building better relationships with families can enhance professional caregiver job satisfaction and thus, quality of care. This discussion and participatory session will introduce professional caregivers to a simple strategy for connecting with families. Attendees will learn how to become “tour guides” for the journey through long-term illness by learning how to help families recognize the impact of their thinking on the outcomes of their caregiving. This three-hour intensive will teach professional caregivers about the connection between thoughts, feelings, and outcomes, strategies to identify negative and unproductive thoughts, and new techniques for replacing these negative thoughts.  The goals are to assist the participants to become more effective at guiding families through the caregiving journey and to proactively create a more positive experience for family caregivers.   Bring your stories and your experience. Participation is encouraged.
